The United States is in mourning again, this time the country cries upon waking up to the news of a new massacre that is already considered the worst in the nation's history.

At least 58 people lost their lives and more than 500 were injured after a man, identified as Stephen Craig Paddock, shot indiscriminately against the more than 22,000 attendees of a music festival that was taking place in the popular city of the state of Nevada.

But who was this 64-year-old man who is accused of having committed the terrible massacre? We tell you what is known so far about Paddock.

1. The man was found lifeless in a 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. According to what authorities have reported, the suspect committed suicide before being found by the police.

2. In the room where he was staying, more than 10 firearms were found, of which several were rifles, as reported by The New York Times on its website.

3. Paddock was a resident of the small town of Mesquite, in Nevada, located just 80 kilometers from Las Vegas. According to local police, the suspect had no criminal record and only one record existed under his name for a traffic violation.

4. A person accompanying the alleged murderer is detained and under interrogation, but according to preliminary conclusions of the investigation, it is believed that he had nothing to do with the attack. Apparently the man would have acted alone.

5. Eric Paddock, the defendant's brother, revealed in conversation with CBS that his relative had a particular fascination with firearms. In the first searches of the suspect's home, investigators found additional weapons and ammunition.

Authorities in charge have not yet been able to pinpoint the motives behind this attack or whether other people were also involved.
