A Kansas City woman spent nearly a full year in distress waiting to hear from her husband, without the police being able to solve the mystery of her whereabouts, while her body remained seated in her vehicle at that city airport. And no one noticed.

According to the FOX affiliate, local authorities confirmed on Friday that Randy Potter's body was recovered from his truck at Kansas City International Airport, eight months after his family last saw him.

If it had not been for the complaints that a terrible smell was coming out of the parking lot of that terminal, perhaps its disappearance would remain a mystery. But last Tuesday, KCI officials responded to that complaint, horrified to find that in the driver's seat, a body was so broken that they couldn't immediately determine race or gender.

Investigators later confirmed that the body belonged to Randy Potter, who he believed killed himself. "Emotionally it has been a very, very hard journey," said Carolina Potter, his wife and mother of their two children. "Not knowing (what happened to him), sleepless nights."

She says the painful mystery began on January 17 when her husband, who worked as a manager with T-Mobile, left her at home and never got to work. Since then, she and her family have done everything possible to find him, from reporting him to the police as missing, to hiring a private investigator.

While it is unclear why none of those involved in his search investigated the vehicle he was driving, his wife stated: "My husband could have been located in the first - I'm going to be very generous - in the first week, that's fine."

Likewise, the dismayed woman commented that although the weeks were passing without having clues of what had happened to her husband, she never thought of giving up her search: “The only thing I said (to the investigators) was:“I don't know if You can find it, but you can't stop looking for it.”
