Troy Gentry of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry, died in a helicopter crash on Friday afternoon.
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, from the popular country duo Montgomery Gentry, died in a helicopter crash that took place at approximately 1:00 pm in Medford, New Jersey," the band said in a statement on their home page. Facebook.
The 50-year-old American singer was due to perform with his bandmate Eddie Montgomery at the Flying W Airport and Resort in Medford on Friday night, and the concert was immediately canceled.
Through a small statement, Troy's family thanked all the thoughts and prayers of the singer's followers and asked for privacy in this tragic moment they are going through.
The details of the accident are unknown at this time. Gentry is survived by his wife Angie and daughters Kaylee and Taylor.
