The Louisiana prison has suffered a terrible setback. One of her prisoners kidnapped and killed the 18-year-old stepdaughter of the prison warden after escaping from it, as confirmed by PEOPLE magazine.

The culprit, Deltra Henderson, 39, was eventually located and shot by law enforcement until his death. "It has been a terrible two days," Sheriff Ken Bailey tells the magazine. "This murder made no sense."

The senior police officer said Amanda Carney was in the house she shared with her parents, when the fugitive suddenly abducted her on Thursday afternoon.

"She lived with the idea that he was a counselor and that he was there cleaning beds and taking care of the lawn," he continues. "He took her in her car and left."

Bailey claims that the criminal collided the car near a forest, abandoning the vehicle. Then he went back to prison and stole a neighbor's car. What followed the scene was another accident that led him to enter a trailer where he entrenched himself with a weapon that he found and with which he shot those who followed him.

"He shot those who were walking around looking for him," Bailey explains. "He didn't hurt anyone. But they got into the truck and fired fire. " Henderson was seriously injured thus losing his life later.

The murderer had been jailed in 2001 and was serving prison for various crimes including armed robbery, cocaine trafficking, and assault on homes. His sentence lasted until March 2025.
