A 26-year-old model is challenging beauty standards.

Sara Geurts has a skin disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), which affects connective tissue and collagen production, making the skin fragile and lose elasticity at a younger age.

In an era in which appearance and beauty are the protagonists of social networks, Geurts is willing to invite his followers to know their reality by promoting self-love and positivism towards the image of women.

But it was not always like this. "In high school I just tried to hide it, I didn't want anyone to ask me questions about it, I didn't want to talk about it," Geurts told the British newspaper The Sun.

After years of hiding her skin, now she has lost the fear of showing herself and she shows it through modeling.

Geurts started modeling in 2015 after submitting her story to the Love Your Lines campaign on Instagram, where she received a lot of support and thousands of positive comments.

Love Your Lines celebrates stretch marks and sagging skin on a woman's body as something beautiful and not to be ashamed of.

Because her story was featured on Love Your Lines, Geurts wants to motivate other staff to love what makes them unique, rather than change or cover it.

"My main aspirations to model are to break the standards of society and the mentality that they have about perfection, and to really show that it is your imperfections and your uniqueness that gives you true beauty and that is what you have to celebrate", She said in her profile of The Mighty, where she participates as an editor.
