A San Diego father committed suicide after killing his wife and three of his children, and seriously injuring his 9-year-old son Ezekiel Valdivia, who is in critical condition at the hospital, The Washington Post reported.
The father identified as José Valdivia, 31, killed the children's mother, Sabrina Rosario, 29, who had separated from him and had placed a restraining order against him 24 hours before the tragedy, according to NBC San Diego reported.
The man killed his sons Enzie Valdivia, 3, Zuriel Valdivia, 5, and Zeth Valdivia, 11. The only survivor of the massacre is Ezekiel.
The police assured several media that they received a call from the residence in Paradise Hills in San Diego on Saturday morning. During the call no one spoke to the operator but a loud discussion was heard. A relative made a second call to 911 while police were on the way to the home. Unfortunately when authorities arrived, they found the entire family with gunshot wounds. The parents and their 3-year-old baby were pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the other children died in the hospital, and the fourth is still in intensive care.
"It is still very early in the investigation, but it appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence, a homicide-suicide," Sgt. Matt Dobbs of the San Diego Police Department told NBC. "We believe the man went to the house this morning, there was an argument and he used a gun to shoot his family and then commit suicide."
According to the authorities, the mother had placed a restraining order against her husband, whom she was divorcing, which prohibited her from approaching the family, but evidently the father disobeyed her. Her sister Jocelyn Rosario told NBC that Valdivia was refusing to divorce her and was harassing her since they separated. A GoFundMe account has been created to help with Ezekiel's medical expenses and with the funeral expenses of the mother and the rest of the children. May they rest in peace.
