It was supposed to be an unforgettable beach vacation in Thailand, but sadly it ended in tragedy for an Australian businessman and his wife. Roger John Hussey died after the team he practiced parasailing with failed and dropped him from about a hundred feet high.

In a video of the terrible accident recorded by Budsabong Thongsangka, the wife of the deceased, it is seen how they prepare him to practice this fun in Kata Beach, in the Phuket region.

The images begin with the joy of the 70-year-old businessman as he puts on the equipment he would use for this form of skydiving. Two individuals help him put on his vest. One of them rises next to him on the parachute and everything is going well until, inexplicably, the moorings that hold the tourist burst and he falls into the water, a short distance from the shore, to the dismay of the bathers who were watching the scene.

The unfortunate tourist was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital, where his life could not be saved.

According to The Daily Mail, the operator who climbed the parachute with Hussey and the captain of the embarkation that was dragging him have been arrested on charges of negligence. In his statements to the authorities they assured that it was the victim who, in a panic reaction, unfastened the harness that was holding him.

Experts consulted by the newspaper questioned this version of the events and pointed out that the images of the equipment show that it was not in the best condition.

Hussey was a successful businessman who in 1993 had been named president of Australia's largest betting and gambling association. He had also previously worked for the international fuel giant Shell.

The couple had long planned to spend twelve days on vacation in their country, not imagining that it would end so tragically.
