After the verdict that the United States Supreme Court issued in favor of Gloria Trevi, the singer will bring TV Azteca and Pati Chapoy to trial on the defamation charge. It requires compensation of $ 180 million, according to the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
"At no time did I start this lawsuit for revenge," Trevi warned at a press conference in Dallas, Texas. "Not as retaliation, or anything like that."
“You [media] know that when I got out of prison and that scandal, I dedicated myself to work and help my family get ahead, and I had to start, not from scratch, but from less than a million because when they discredited you as the way they did it to me is very difficult and you have to carry an anchor,”he added.
The judicial process brought by the interpreter of "More Good", it is argued that TV Azteca and its host Pati Chapoy, hinted that Trevi has ties to drug trafficking and was involved in a network of child abuse.
A couple of days ago, the United States Supreme Court considered the petition for review requested by TV Azteca de México, its host Pati Chapoy and the company Publica, SA, inadmissible, on the grounds that the process had been carried out in Texas and none of those involved was a resident or had business in that US state.
Given this, the singer was able to continue her demand.
According to Gloria Trevi, the trial will begin later this year or early 2018.
