José Emiliano Aguilar, son of the beloved Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar, conditionally recovered his freedom while awaiting his sentence for the charges he faces after trying to enter the United States with four Chinese citizens without documents hidden in his car.

According to a report in the newspaper El Universal, the 25-year-old would have received the benefit of his freedom until next August, when the opinion on his case will be defined.

Additional information submitted by Vanguardia's online site adds that the young man would have reached an agreement with the authorities after pleading guilty to human trafficking, which is why the judges are expected to give him a less drastic sentence than expected. As the charges he faces could be punished by up to 10 years in prison.

On March 14, José Emiliano was detained at the border between Mexico and the United States, trying to cross illegally with four people hidden in the trunk of his Chrysler sedan-type car.

Border agents noticed the presence of Chinese citizens when a dog sniffed the car during an inspection. As revealed, the young man would receive amounts of between $ 3,000 and $ 6,000 from each of the people hidden in the vehicle.

After learning of his son's situation, Pepe emphatically assured that he would respect the decision reached after his son's trial. "I believe in a society that must be governed by laws and must have consequences if one breaks them," said the singer.
