The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has just announced that Latinos Zoe Saldaña and Lin-Manuel Miranda will receive their star on the Walk of Fame, as part of the list of winners for 2018, the Mexican agency Notimex reported.
Saldaña, who is the descendant of a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother, has stood out as an actress and rose to world fame as Neytiri in the movie Avatar. Subsequently, she consolidated her success by playing Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
For his part, the singer, songwriter, and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also has Puerto Rican roots for his father Luis A. Miranda, enjoys various awards in theater, where he has won several Tony Awards; He has also earned Emmys and Grammys, as well as an Oscar nomination. The Broadway musical Hamilton, which he composed and stars in, has given him his greatest success.
Both Latinos are part of what is known as Class 2018; in which the actors Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Lawrence and Nick Nolte also receive this recognition; as well as singers Snoop Dogg and Carrie Underwood, among others.
The surprise in this selection turned out Minnie Mouse in the cinema category.
According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, although the selection of winners officially corresponds to the period of next 2018, each of the celebrities has two years to go to unveil his star in a ceremony prepared specifically for the honoree.
Other Hispanics who also have their star on Hollywood Boulevard are Angélica María, Thalía, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Vicente and Alejandro Fernández, Eugenio Derbez, José José and Shakira, to name a few.
