Carla Fendi, one of the five sisters in the Fendi family and honorary president of the Italian luxury goods brand, has died in her 80s in Rome after battling a long illness. The brand confirmed her death on Monday afternoon, expressing deep sadness at the great loss and appreciation for the deceased's many contributions to the brand.
Carla was responsible for the brand's image and is especially recognized for creating the iconic Fendi logo that bears the double F.
"He never ceased to actively contribute with a continuing passion for the company's success that remained a reason to live," the brand said in a press release. “From the first international recognitions obtained with the help of the four sisters until their last days. She has been an inspiration and an example of dedication, work culture and sensitivity to beauty for all of us. She will be with us forever.”
Fashion giant LVMH also paid tribute to him on his Instagram account. "We honor our dear Carla, whose death deeply affects us all."
