Politician In Mexico Copies Speech From Television Series

Reason for scandal and controversy has resulted in Mexico discovering that a politician completely plagiarized a speech by Frank Underwood, main character, played by Kevin Spacey, from the series House of Cards (Netflix). Miguel Ángel Covarrubias Cervantes, former mayor of the municipality of San Damián Texoloc, Tlaxcala, in addition to the text, tried to imitate the character's body language.

The video with Covarrubias' preaching was discovered on social networks, where the criticism began. In the face of displeasure over this fact, it was later taken up by the country's media as a form of reprimand.

Underwood's speech, titled "The Leader We Deserve," is part of the launch campaign for the new chapters of this successful series.

Given what happened, Netflix decided to give the Mexicans a replica of what happened and a video was posted on their official Twitter account, with the actor Michael Kelly, who plays Doug in said broadcast. To all Mexicans.

"This is not a competition. You'd be surprised where some people's inspiration comes from,”Kelly mentions in the short. "Pay attention". And it closes with the Spanish text: “Frank and Carrie Underwood. United we are stronger”.

Miguel Ángel Covarrubias was also given the task of copying graphics and typography. As well as arguing on his Facebook that "copying was never his goal, the world's attention was."
