Queen Elizabeth II made an emotional visit to the wounded in the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on Thursday to take an interest in their evolution and personally thank those who helped them at the most critical moments.
Dressed in blue, with an orange hat, gloves, and handbag in hand, Her Majesty arrived at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital at the point of 11:20 am local time, just after the minute of silence observed this morning throughout Britain to pay tribute to the deceased.
The monarch made her way through a row of nurses and doctors who were watching her closely, followed by cameras and elements of the press that documented the meeting.
The first to meet the 91-year-old queen was Evie Mills, just 14, who had received tickets to the fateful concert as a birthday present. "It's terrible. It is very perverse. Make such events a target [of attacks],”the monarch told the young girl, who received her in the company of her parents, according to The Telegraph.
"We are all united," continued the monarch, while ensuring that Grande is "a very good singer" and "sounds good, very good."
The sovereign also visited Millie Robinson, 15, who was wearing a T-shirt with the image of her beloved star. The queen asked her if she liked the concert. The girl then revealed that she had won VIP passes to attend the event and that she had even met the singer backstage before starting the concert.
"It's not the kind of thing you expect to happen at all," the queen told the minor's father.
Amy Barlow, 12, and her mother Kathy were other victims that the monarch visited. In total, Monday's terrorist attack cost 22 people their lives and injured about 75.
