Beyonce Visits Harvey's Victims

Beyoncé, who is in the first trimester of her postpartum period after giving birth to her twins, had a pretty busy weekend in her hometown of Houston.

The singer visited the church of St. John on Friday, whose services she attended as a child and in whose choir she debuted as a singer, to serve food to some 400 victims in the company of her daughter Blue Ivy and her mother Tina Knowles.

"This church is my home," Jay-Z's wife told parishioners, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I was about nine or 10 years old the first time I sat where my daughter is sitting. I sang my first solo here and I just want to thank you for encouraging my family, for praying for me, for being such an amazing example of what love and light is.”

The interpreter for “Single Ladies” made it clear to all members of the congregation that she feels that they are her family. Houston is my home. I thank God they are fine. That their children are fine … I just want to tell them that I love them, "she said. "I have been blessed to bless others and I ask God to continue doing that for more people."

To complete their visit to Houston, the Knowles-Carter family decided to stop by their favorite fried chicken restaurant, Frenchy's Chicken.

"After serving all day, it's our turn to eat at our favorite place," Tina Knowles shared on Instagram. “We ate chicken, red beans, and rice. They have the best fries in the world."

Through the BeyGOOD organization, Beyoncé and her former partners in the Destiny's Child group, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, in addition to their family and other celebrities have helped, have solidarity through the BeyGOOD organization that assists those affected by the devastating floods Harvey left in Texas.
