British authorities have identified the suicide bomber who detonated the explosives that killed 22 people on Monday and wounded 59 others after leaving an Ariana Grande concert in the English city of Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police Chief Ian Hopkins reported that the suspect in carrying out the attack was named Salman Abedi, the son of Syrian refugees, who was residing in Manchester. "However, he has not been formally identified and therefore I prefer not to give more information."
The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the explosion in a video in which one of its members holds a sign with the word Manchester and the date of the attack. He also assures that "the lions of the Islamic State" have started their operations against "the crusaders".
An unidentified 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with what happened on Monday, which is considered to be the worst terrorist attack on British soil since the attacks on London's public transport in 2005.
This is for the moment what is known about Abedi.
