A Canadian mother suffering from depression and anxiety weighed 307 pounds before grabbing the strength to say goodbye to those extra pounds. Today, two years later, the woman weighs 179 pounds and has just competed in a bodybuilding competition.

The pivotal moment that convinced Jana Roller to start her battle against being overweight happened in 2015 when she was playing with her little boy in a park and he ran away from her by rushing onto the street - risking being hit by a car. Because of her obesity, she couldn't reach it and it was then that she thought, "This has to change now," she told People.

That same year, she went to a coach and began a rigorous exercise program. A year later, the woman, now 29, had lost a significant amount of weight so she decided she wanted to compete in a bodybuilding contest.

To prepare, he launched a program that included strength training six days a week and cardiovascular exercises as well as a macro diet. As her diet improved, so did her time in the gym.

Finally on May 6, Roller performed at the 2017 British Columbia Amateur Bodybuilding Association Kelowna Classic, their first bodybuilding competition. And a few days later she published these two photographs with her "before and after" on Instagram.

“This is for every person who told himself he can't. Who heard words 'I'm not good enough'. Who looked in the mirror and said 'I'm not worth it'. Listen to me when I say IF YOU'RE WORTH IT! You have dreams? Go after them. Do you have goals? Reach them. The only person who says you can't is YOU! You have more people on your side than you think. You're not alone. It can be who you want to be and do what you want to do. Be unlimited. Be brave. Be bold. Be fierce … This is yours. Now get the job done!”
