In the months he had been in prison before he died, former NFL player Aaron Hernandez had committed nearly a dozen disciplinary offenses that included three fights with other inmates, getting tattoos without prior permission, unauthorized use of tobacco, and possession of a sharp razor.

As reported by CNN, these infractions began almost a month after Hernández was sentenced to life in prison. On May 17, 2015, an officer from the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts visited his cell to look for marks on his body and bruises. However, Hernández would have blocked the door, making it difficult for the guard to enter. When he was finally able to do it, he saw that the knuckles of his hands and one elbow were reddish, so he handcuffed him and escorted him to be seen by the medical personnel. Hernández - who had apparently had a fight in his cell - was "agitated and insolent," the officer reported.

The former New England Patriots player used to cover the view of his cell from the inside and when the guard on duty in front of her saw her covered on April 19, he asked Hernández to discover her. When he ignored him, the officer did, but this time there was no need to discipline him: Hernández would have committed suicide inside his cell, hanging himself on a sheet.

The report indicates that the cell grids were covered in cardboard and she had thrown shampoo on the floor, making it difficult to reach her body - which had vomit coming out of her mouth and nose - while on her right middle finger she had a "fresh" cut with blood. There was also blood on his other fingers. Furthermore, there was a large circular blood mark on each of his feet and the biblical text of "John 3:16" was written on his forehead in ink.

There were several drawings on the wall, but what was not specified. Also on a table was found the open Bible in that same text of the Bible, and three handwritten notes.

No other signs of trauma were found on his body, nor were there any signs of struggle; surveillance video shows that no one entered or left his cell from 8:00 pm until he was discovered. Prison authorities say Hernández's death was suicide. For their part, the lawyers of the deceased athlete expressed their discontent that this information has been made public, as they indicate that it could hinder the investigation of what they believe may have been a homicide.
