A couple of YouTubers, Mike and Heather Martin, have temporarily lost custody of two of their five children for showing how they were yelled at and humiliated on that video-sharing website. Although they claim that it was all a joke, they are being investigated for child abuse.
The videos show children crying when their parents accused them of misbehaving and lied to them saying they were adopted. The Martinites, residents of Maryland, have temporarily lost custody of Emma, 11, and Cody, 9, who have been handed over to their biological mother, Rose Hall - former partner of Mike Martin - and will be with her until you get to the bottom of the case.
This episode comes to light after Phillip DeFranco, a famous YouTuber with more than 5 million followers, reported on his channel how children suffered in these recordings, especially little Cody.
Since this controversy was uncovered, the Martin's have deleted the videos from their own YouTube channel, DaddyOFive, which has more than 760,000 subscribers, and left only one apologizing. Some of the previous videos showed how they falsely accused Cody of dirtying the floor and how they encouraged another of the brothers to slap Emma, the only girl in the clan.
In an interview on Good Morning America (ABC), Heather and Mike Martin confirmed that the police are investigating them for alleged child abuse. "Because of my bad decisions now my family is suffering," he said on the show. To what the mother added about her children: “They know that what people are saying is not true. They know we love them."
