In the bitter divorce that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt go through, the most tangled of their points has not yet been unraveled: the custody of their six children.

A source close to Jolie smashed reports this week that the actress and Pitt have reached a final agreement regarding the fate of their children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivenne and Knox.

"This is pure manipulation, absolutely nothing has changed," a person close to the situation told People. “The original arrangement is temporary and involuntary and has not changed in the least. No final resolution has been made and there is nothing legally representing a custody arrangement at this time.”

The rumors began because Jolie was revealed on Monday to have filed through attorneys a series of custody papers in the California court where the case is being heard.

“There is zero legal purpose in this petition. Zero”, the source said emphatically to People.

A California-based divorce expert Steve Mindell told People it was "unusual" for Jolie to have filed new custody documents with the court. "Now that she has submitted this document," Mindell said. "People are going to have more access to information about children: where they are, what their hours are, and so on. And at their level of wealth, privacy is very important for their safety.”

"With the idea of submitting these documents she is definitely sending a message to Brad that she wants this more in the public light," Mindell noted. "This is not particularly good for either celebrity."

The couple started their love story 12 years ago, after meeting on the set of a movie, and they decided to formalize their relationship two years ago in a private ceremony in a small town in the French region of Provence, in which their offspring were protagonists wearing the rings and distributing petals.

Jolie filed for divorce in December. In the original petition, the artist asked to have sole custody of the six children. Things got complicated in early November when handsome Brad officially filed for joint custody of the children.
