An Oregon man will spend 7 years in jail for hiding the body of his late father in a freezer and cashing his Social Security pension checks. Authorities say Edward Conley Fitchett's father - named Henry Conley Fitchett Jr. - died in December 2015 at the age of 87 from natural causes.

The two lived together in a mobile home in Aurora County, Oregon. When Edward disappeared, his son told police that he had moved in with another son, but that brother said that he had not seen his father in over three years.

The defendant, 57, later said that his father had moved in with his girlfriend. Police found the body of the deceased in the freezer on February 16 and immediately arrested the son. The body was placed in a high vacuum plastic sealing bag, similar to those used to pack clothes.

Conley reportedly spent roughly a few things on Amazon, covering his monthly expenses, rent, and other expenses.

This Tuesday the man accepted the charges against him for abuse of a corpse in the second degree and six charges for theft in the first degree, according to various reports.

According to the local Oregonian newspaper, the Marion County court also issued an order for the man to pay for his father's funeral expenses.
