The greatest lessons in life very often come from children. This has just been demonstrated by Sophia, a 2-year-old little girl who lives in North Carolina and who last Friday chose a black doll among all those in a store. However, her mother assures that this choice would have triggered a series of questions from the cashier who attended them.

Brandi Benner, Sophia's mother, posted on her Instagram page the account of how, seeing the color of the doll her daughter chose, the cashier asked if she was going to a birthday party. When the girl said no, she kept asking him if he had chosen her for a friend. Since the answer was again negative, the employee would have asked him again: "Are you sure it is the doll you want, darling?"

According to Benner, things did not stop there because when her daughter confirmed that this was actually her choice, the insistent woman commented: “But she does not look like you. We have many other dolls that are more like you."

Her mother follows the story, assuring that the little girl replied: “Yes, it looks similar. She is a doctor like me. And I am a pretty girl and she is a pretty girl. Do you see her pretty hair? And do you see your stethoscope?”

Whether or not a two-year-old girl could have been so loquacious, what no one can question is the beautiful message with which her mother - who admits that some on social networks have accused her of inventing the incident - concludes the story: “This experience has just confirmed my belief that we are not born with the idea that color matters. The skin comes in different colors, just like the hair and the eyes, and every nuance is beautiful."
