OJ Simpson's remaining days in prison could be numbered. The former football player will have a hearing in July in front of a Parole Board that could set him free if he determines that he has maintained good conduct in prison. If so, Simpson would have access to the money that his retirement plan from the National Football League has accumulated in the years that he has been imprisoned: therefore letting go of Simpson - who would only be 9 years old from the 33 years he was sentenced after be found guilty of kidnapping and theft of sports equipment, among other charges, in Las Vegas.

In order to get out of jail, Simpson will have to convince the board that he has not been involved in gangs, abused drugs or alcohol, and has maintained good conduct since entering prison. He is currently being held at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

If released this fall, it would be just before the 70th birthday of the fallen former athlete and actor. And while Simpson would have access to his pension, the families of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and his friend Ron Goldman would not suffer the same fate. Simpson was held responsible for their deaths during a civil trial in 1997 and was required to pay the families of the deceased as required by law, he cannot be touched to pay that debt. Before losing the civil case, Simpson had been acquitted of two counts of murder for the brutal deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman in a criminal trial in 1995.
