In another proof that love can overcome many barriers, Valdemira Rodrigues de Oliveira, a 106-year-old elderly woman, and her boyfriend, Aparecido Dias Jacob, 66, have just married despite the 40 years that separate them.
The lovers met at a nursing home in Brazil three years ago. She lived there because of his age, while he moved into the house after suffering the consequences of polio.
Despite the age difference that separates them, the happy boyfriend shared how excited he was about his link to Globo.com: " I know she is a little older than me, but I am happy." His now wife claimed to be very much in love with him. "I like it a lot, if he dies I die too," he said.
Although the doctors did not give their approval for the marriage, since they consider that the state of health of the bride and groom does not allow them to live independently, they decided to swear eternal love in an emotional ceremony.
While an orchestra that included trumpets and violins played "The Triumphal March," the bride entered pushing her walker down the long hallway that led to Jacob. Thanks to the support of the Projeto do Sonhos, 150 volunteers, including photographer, orchestra and makeup artist, came together to make the wish of these lovers come true, thus making Rodrigues de Oliveira the oldest woman to marry.
