The photos of Miss France 2017, Alicia Aylies, for Paris Match magazine have caused a stir.
Many fans claim that the images have been retouched to whiten the skin of the 18-year-old beauty queen. In one of the photographs, the model poses on a beach dressed in a radiant red dress and black heels.
"She looks beautiful but it's not her", "stop changing people's skin tone", "what horror", "don't you mind changing people's color in that way?" Are some of the comments that Twitter users have written on Alicia's mural after she retweet the image.
"At no time was the photo whitewashed," magazine photographer Benjamin Decoin told The Huffington Post. “Yes, it was illuminated with flashlights, so Alicia appears to be much clearer than if one observes her in a dark corridor. Take a picture with an iPhone, with and without a flash and you will see the difference it makes”.
The Guyana candidate was proclaimed Miss France 2017 on December 18 at a ceremony held at the Arena Montpellier theater.
