Juan Gabriel's eldest son assures that he never knew that his missing father had two more children, brothers with whom today he wants to establish a relationship.

When Juan Gabriel died suddenly in California in August, his sons Iván, Jean, Hans and Joan ran to his side, with the rest of his family, to say goodbye to him before his remains were cremated. But in that scene of pain one and perhaps two more children were missing: Luis Alberto Aguilera and Joao Gabriel Alberto Aguilera, whose identities were made public only after the death of Divo de Juárez. "We did not know and it is difficult to believe that something so important was kept secret for so long," Iván said exclusively to People en Español, adding that none of the people who were with them told them about the existence of other brothers. “If we had [known] it, we would have done everything so that they would be with us. During the saddest and most difficult moments of our lives, it would have been good to know that we had more brothers.” And he adds: "That day we lost our father, but we could have won brothers."

Weeks later, after performing the funeral services, a DNA test by Luis Alberto and a lawsuit by Joao Gabriel, Iván obtained confirmation from people close to his father that Luis Alberto was indeed his brother and that Joao was probably also. "It is sad to know that the people who were with us knew this secret and did not tell us," Iván adds in an extensive interview at his father's house, carried out for a cover story in the March issue of People en Español, a sale now. “They thought we needed to be protected, but we didn't need protection. We needed to know the truth to make the right decisions."

Among them is inviting Luis Alberto and Joao Gabriel to accompany them to their father's massive tribute to be held in the state of Mexico on February 18 and asking them to sit down and talk like brothers. "There is no reason not to know each other, perhaps even to talk about our past," concludes Iván. "I see only good things coming out of all this."
