The Colombian singer Maluma would not have been invited to sing in the Super Bowl halftime show despite having recorded the song "Blackmail" together with Shakira, who lit the stage of that show with his colleagues Jennifer López, Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
According to the American newspaper New York Post, the interpreter of "Happy the 4" was not taken into account despite the fact that his image had been used in promotions prior to the most anticipated game of the year by American football fans.
"[Maluma] co-wrote the song and they used his image to promote [the halftime show]. It was crazy that Bad Bunny acted in her place,”the newspaper quoted a source she did not identify about the presentation of the Puerto Rican and the singer from Barranquilla.
Maluma's absence on the Super Bowl stage did not stop him from expressing his happiness and pride after his song was heard by millions of viewers - and he published a photo in his Instagram stories in which he wrote: “Blackmail in the Super Bowl!”
During her performance, Shakira also sang part of the song “I Like It” with Bad Bunny, originally performed by Bad Bunny, rapper Cardi B and J Balvin.
In turn, Cardi B published a video on her Instagram account in which - on the verge of tears - she said that she could not believe that her music was performed by one of her musical idols and on a stage of the likes of the Super Bowl.
