After a year and six months in prison, Iñaki Urdangarín has obtained his first prison permit to spend Christmas with his wife, Infanta Cristina, and their four children.

The entire family traveled to the Basque Country to spend Christmas Eve with the family of the ex-duke of Mallorca. There they have been seen happy and smiling during a street outing on December 25 to attend the 12 PM mass in the famous Chapel of El Prado, in Vitoria.

His arrival at church has been filled with anticipation. Despite the number of people and curious people who were waiting for that moment, the family, who came to the place on foot, was calm and very united, without being able to hide the absolute happiness of being together again.

Holding hands, husband and wife looked ahead and were most complicit. Despite the rumors of an alleged marriage crisis after all that has happened, the couple has proven to be most involved in these complicated moments.

Urdangarin's sentence is five years and ten months for the crimes of embezzlement, prevarication, tax crimes, fraud against the Public Administration and influence peddling.

This is the first time in many years that we see the couple with their children with the ex-sportsman's family passing these Christmas dates. Until now they always did it in Madrid and with the royal family in the Zarzuela palace, a place where today they are not welcome.

The permit lasts until the morning of Saturday, December 28, the date on which he will have to return to the Brieva women's prison, in Ávila, where he has been admitted since June 2018.
