Prince Charles's wife published a letter in The Telegraph with a much-needed message these days: Please don't forget about the elderly who are alone during the endearing Christmas dates.

Camilla Parker, thanks to her patronage of The Silver Line, a telephone line that provides comfort to the elderly, is very aware of the problems of loneliness and isolation suffered by the elderly.

"During this time, when many of us are making plans for Christmas, it is more important than ever to remember those who are alone, not only during Christmas, but throughout the year," reads the letter from the Duchess of Cornwall.

“We all know what it is like to feel lonely at some point in our lives, but for an increasing number of older people, loneliness is part of their day to day. Whether due to illness or disability, the loss of their loved ones or because they live far from their families, it is very easy for them to be alone,”the letter continues.

"In a world as busy as the one we live in, they do not want to put a burden on their family or friends, but when the days go by without any kind of human contact they can seem eternal," says Camilla. She also ensures that The Silver Line "changed the lives of many people who are isolated or alone."
