Duchess Kate Middleton divides her day between raising her three children, Princes George, Louis, and Princess Charlotte, and their public responsibilities. But it has come to light that she took time out of her day to secretly work in the maternity unit of a London hospital.

The 37-year-old mother was following and observing midwives and professionals in the hospital to learn about the development of children during their first years of life. According to news from the Royal Palace, the duchess worked two days in the hospital.

"The Duchess of Cambridge, together with the organization of the dukes The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, finished two days [of work] in the Maternity Unit of Kingston Hospital in London today," the Court Circular newspaper reported.

Last year, as part of her duties, the Duchess established a support group to advise her on the well-being and challenges facing parents and caregivers of children during the first years of life.

In May, at the conclusion of her work, Kate appreciated the counseling and professional support received from the group and the hospital.

"Through our work, they have reaffirmed my belief in how timely it is to focus on what happens during the first years of life, and the importance of this stage of life in the future of a child," the duchess told them. “I hope that my commitment to long-term work in the first years [of life] will help make a difference. Their beliefs and advice will continue to be invaluable.”

The duchess will return to her official duties on Tuesday night to help Queen Elizabeth welcome leaders of the NATO alliance, including President Donald Trump, who will arrive at Buckingham Palace.
