Radio host Greg James could be blacklisted by the royal family right now, after Prince William and Kate Middleton had a "chat" with him about a joke he made about Princess Charlotte live.

In September, Charlotte, 4, was photographed on her first day at school, when she started in the reception class at the same school as her older brother, Prince George. The images show Charlotte, arriving with mom and dad waving to their new director with a handshake.

When the photos came out, BBC Radio 1's Greg James joked on the air about how stylish the school must be for students to shake hands with teachers. "Who the hell shakes hands with his teacher on the first day?" Greg said. “In my days it was not like that. You were happy if you received a smile”.

Luckily for the communicator, William and Kate listened to his program.

Speaking to the Mirror, Greg revealed how the Dukes of Cambridge mentioned the 'incident' when he was invited to join them at Kensington Palace a few weeks later.

"They were listening the morning Charlotte went to school," James told the publication. "They said, 'We were listening on the morning of little Charlotte's first day, and we want to talk to you about the handshake […],'" she shared.

I said, 'Oh God, no!' They had heard me say that this school was so elegant that they had to shake hands with their teacher every day.”

Luckily he did not get older and the announcer does not believe that the incident damages his reputation. "I am sure everything is absolutely fine," he told the newspaper.
