Miss Universe Is Shown Without Makeup

Miss Universe Catriona Gray left many of her more than 7 million Instagram followers shocked by sharing a photo without a drop of makeup. The model, with Filipino and Australian roots, hypnotizes with her freshly washed face. Gray joined the #As She Is or 'As She Is,' social media challenge in which women show themselves without makeup, celebrating their natural beauty.

“This is the skin I wake up with every morning. I love playing with makeup and being glamorous, but I've also learned to love the skin I wake up with, its acne scars and moles,”she wrote alongside the image. “I also have days when I don't feel sure of myself, or when my insecurities make themselves feel more… and this is fine. Loving yourself as you are is a [long] path, but it is a path worth [walking].”

The photo was a success on Instagram, achieving more than 800,000 likes in a few hours.

Gray is not the first Miss Universe to be shown without makeup.

Miss Universe 2017 also joined the #As She Is challenge. "Good morning world, this is me and I love it," wrote South African model Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters on Instagram alongside a photo without makeup, nominating other friends to dare to show themselves as they are.
