For Suzanne L. Ujaque, being overweight has never been an obstacle or a reason to feel less beautiful or to go out and conquer her dreams, and she owes this to her mother, who from a very young age taught her to have good self-esteem and repeated a thousand times how beautiful it was. For this reason, today the Ujaque has become an inspiration for many plus-size girls whom she guides and empowers through her digital platform, where in addition to messages to improve self-esteem, she also writes about fashion, beauty and health.

"Since I was a child I did not have any limitations thanks to my mom who never made me look different from others or different because I was fat," says Ujaque, who visited our offices in New York a few weeks ago. “I kind of always had access to the fact that I could see myself well. At 13 or 14 years old there was perhaps an episode of self-esteem. There you realize that your mother has told you all childhood that you are beautiful, that you are beautiful and at the moment like [I thought] I want a short shirt, how do I wear it if the skinny girls really are the ones they have it? That's when you realize that maybe you are not the same. So there she says again, 'you can wear everything you want to wear, but if you don't look special, nobody will see you special'.

Although she finished her career in communications and public relations, the also an entrepreneur, never left her love for fashion and that is why she decided to launch SU_Style.com, a digital platform aimed at plus size women.

"At one point in my life I said, 'I want to do something that unites my two passions.' So that's when I launch what SU_style.com is, which is the digital platform of fashion, self-esteem and beauty for the plus-size woman, because [that] was my reality, it was what I always lived, "says the also creator. of Suzú Jewelery. "I launched it at a time where there were [not] fashion bloggers on the island [Puerto Rico], where there was not much proliferation, much less a fat woman talking about fashion."

Ujaque's mission is to teach plus-size women to love, respect and accept themselves. That is why, in addition to serving as support and inspiration with its platform, every year it performs in Puerto Rico the SuStyleExpo where approximately 5,000 plus-size women gather and which will also soon be taken to other cities in the United States.

"The greatest acceptance you can have is the one that comes from within," he says. If you don't even love yourself, if you don't love yourself when you look in the mirror, if you don't see that and accept it, at that moment nothing will be right for you. You can have the latest fashion trends and nothing will look good on you”.
