In recent years, Latin American talent has been making a lot of noise and it's not for less. It is from our countries that many internationally recognized designers have come out, but this new discovery of our roots we owe to designers such as Mercedes Salazar, Johanna Ortiz and countless brands that rely on women and men from tribes or small communities of countries like Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Guatemala, among others. It is precisely to Guatemala how far Kika Rocha went to see first-hand an incredible organization.
In a new installment of the Specials with Kika, the fashion expert traveled to the Central American country to learn about the incredible work that Dr. Mark Arellano is doing in which in addition to giving educational opportunities to the children of the community, it also empowers women helping them to develop their potential.
On this tour, Rocha also introduces us to Cecilia Gamboa, who through her company has dedicated herself to promoting the very distinctive fabrics of her country through unique and original pieces.
“The idea is to continue making handmade products. We are going to continue working on that, on making a truly conscious fashion, which is something that people value a lot,”says Gamboa. “Continue with the techniques, but change the designs. Get out of the mold”.
Watch the video at the beginning of the article and know the details of this beautiful organization. In addition, in the video you will have the opportunity to meet the women behind a very special and original brand. Do not miss it.
