This pandemic has changed the lives of everyone, especially the thousands of people who have had to stay locked up at home without being able to go out to exercise or do the things they are used to and that can often affect their emotional state. So, in addition to getting work done - many have to keep working - it is also good to get a little pampering by taking long tub baths, lighting scented candles and learning new ways to relax. A good way not to go crazy with so much closure is to practice some relaxation exercises.

We spoke to Matthew Mileo, a yoga instructor, wellness expert and founder of the Mileo brand, who shared some meditation and breathing tips for people who have never done it but are in need right now.

- For someone who has never done so, it is to condition the place where it is, to be quiet. Sit on a pillow or on a yoga mat for at least five minutes. Adjust the intensity of the light to your liking, turn off the phone and if you want also light a candle.

- Start breathing properly. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.

- Place one hand on the chest and the other on the belly. Inhale louder and note which area your breathing is coming from depending on which hand moves the most.

- In the next two minutes, with your eyes closed you must expand your breathing so that it comes more from the belly and less from the chest.

- Begin to breathe from the base of the belly, raising the air to the lungs until it is taken out of the mouth.

- It may take you a few minutes to expand your breathing from the belly, but you will see that you will finally be using all the capacity that your lungs have. Although the mind automatically understands this process, your body may take a little longer.

- Observing this process between the mind and the body, is an essential part for beginners. After recalibrating the body, it is time to do it with the mind.

- For about 2 or 3 minutes focus, create a focus or a mantra. A mantra is repeating one or more sentences constantly, either out loud or only in the mind. This helps make your thoughts more meaningful and productive, thus pushing negative thoughts away. For example, you can say, I am (by inhaling) enough (by exhaling).

- After doing this for a few minutes, open your eyes slowly and notice how your body reconnects to the world and your mind feels more calm and relaxed.
