Sandra Lanshin Shiu of the Lanshin Spa in Brooklyn, New York uses ancient Chinese medicine techniques to combat wrinkles and dry skin. Discover the keys to its star treatment: the Gua Sha Facial.

What does the facial Gua Sha technique consist of?

It is a type of facial massage that uses a very soft stone utensil, Gua Sha, which is used to release tension from the muscles of the face, improve blood circulation, fluids and energy. In other words, it stimulates the movement of the skin and tissues, and that sculpts and creates a contouring effect, decongests, cleanses, improves complexion and luminosity, tones and reduces puffiness.

As an expert in skin and Chinese medicine, why do you think this treatment is better than fillers or botox?

Because if you use it correctly and regularly, you can improve and reinforce the normal and healthy state of your skin in a more holistic and natural way. In addition, it is a relaxing ritual that allows you to enjoy and focus on your sense of touch, and have a moment of meditation for you that is truly beautiful.

How many sessions does it take to notice results?

You can notice results in one session, but the important thing is to practice it regularly. I tell my patients that they can visit me once a week for 8 or 10 weeks, and then move on to once a month or learn to do the technique themselves.

Where can it be learned?

We often teach in our Brooklyn workshop and we also offer free tutorials that you can follow on our YouTube channel: Treatment by Lanshin.
