As we have previously reported, in recent years the large chain stores have been suffering large losses and therefore have had to lay off thousands of employees and incidentally close a large number of their stores around the country. And is that stores such as Sears, Kmart, Forever 21, Lord & Taylor and Macy's, among others, have been affected by the large increase in online stores and customers who prefer to buy almost everything through their phones from the comfort of their home.
In reality, many famous and historic stores are going bankrupt or experiencing large losses, so they have nothing left but to get rid of many of their stores. And if you want to be aware of all the ones that will close their doors this year, here is a list of the most popular ones.
Express
The popular store announced that it will be closing about 100 stores in the next two years, of which it closed nine last year and 31 in January alone.
JC Penney
The company will be closing six stores in 2020 and in addition to that, it has already closed one of its operations centers, finding it necessary to fire 243 employees.
Macy's
The store is looking to have fewer stores to focus more on its website. This year they will be closing 30 locations.
Sears and Kmart
Both store chains have been the most affected by the changes in the market. In the last two years, some of their stores began to close and in 2020 alone, 96 of their stores will disappear.
Bed Bath & Beyond
The popular department store will be closing 40 of its stores this year.
Pier 1
Known for its incredible home furnishings, this store is preparing to close 450 of its stores and everything indicates that it will soon disappear completely.
