The past three years have been super difficult for popular department stores that, due to low sales, had to file for bankruptcy and close many of their stores. Store chains such as Sears, Kmart, Forever 21 and Lord & Taylor have been affected by the great change that businesses in this sector have undergone, and have been forced to reduce their operating costs by cutting staff and closing dozens of stores around the United States. Apparently this 2020 history will continue to repeat itself. And we just found out that Macys will close several stores during the first months of the year.

The company will be closing 19 stores in the country and although in 2016 they had announced that they would close 100 stores due to the few sales they had been experiencing, it is rumored that these new closings are not part of the initial plan.

This these establishments will begin to have substantial discounts on the merchandise they have available which will last about twelve weeks, which would be just when the doors of the affected premises will begin to close.

Although this is a bad time for the company, Macy's customers will be able to take advantage of the specials. The cities where these locations are located are: Philadelphia, Connecticut, Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, Ohio, Maryland, Kentuky, Pennsylvania, Washington and Florida.

Another store that recently announced that it was experiencing financial problems is Pier 1 Imports. In fact, they will be closing 450 of their stores, almost half of the 942 establishments they have around the country.

How unfortunate!
