Luxurious earth-toned textures and an irresistible romantic allure make their way in the picturesque city of San Miguel de Allende by the Mexican presenter Alejandra Espinoza. For our September edition, the most important in terms of fashion, I spoke with Espinoza about her new professional challenges, her interpretation of fashion and that collection of clothing that she is about to launch.
It has been a year full of work adventures, such as your debut as an actress in the new TV series The Last Dragon, your role in Rubí and presenting The Queen of Song…
This year has been difficult for me at work, but in the best sense of the word. In The Dragon I have to play the character of a Hollywood actress. In Rubí (Univision) I play Sonia, a cardiologist who falls in love with the protagonist and is part of the [protagonist] love triangle. It is an adaptation of the soap opera with Camila Sodi as Rubí and I really hope that people like it. This is something I've been preparing for, nothing compares to being [on set]. It is an adrenaline rush that fascinates me. The queen of the song has me excited because she is looking for the maximum representative of Latin music. We are living in an era where the value of women's work in music is being highly valued and I love being part of a person's growth,as at the time many people at Univision supported me.
We know you have just launched your new clothing line. Tell us about this new project
It is another dream come true. I always wanted to make a clothing line that identifies me. When you have dreams you have to run into people who are willing to make that dream come true. People said to me: 'It is very difficult, put up a boutique.' But that was not my dream. The line is very my style. I want it to be beautiful, different and accessible. I want to do many styles, but in small quantities so that people feel that they have something exclusive and many things mix and match.
With twelve years in show business, how do you think your style has evolved?
My relationship with fashion has been rare. I have never been to follow specific trends. If I like it, I wear it and I don't care if it's in season or not. I am more than putting on clothes that I feel good about. There are many trending things that fascinate me how they look at other people, but not me. I know myself very well and I know when I have something left and I don't have it.
Are you like this also in matters of beauty?
I love taking care of myself and I like to look good without makeup. It doesn't mean I want everyone to think I look good without makeup. If I look good, that's enough for me. On days when I don't work I go without makeup and I feel good because I have worked to make my skin look like this.
