Winds of change are blowing in the world of luxury fashion. First it was Stella McCartney and her decision to replace the skins with vegan options, that is, they do not use any product derived from animals, in their collections and accessories and later, although it has taken several years, other brands such as Michael Kors and Gucci have followed in their footsteps.

Now, two months after Chanel announced that it will stop using exotic leathers in all its collections, Victoria Beckham has been the last to join this initiative towards a more sustainable fashion business for the planet, as reported by WWD.

"We had been looking for ways to use materials that were obtained in a more ethical way and that had less environmental impact," a spokesperson for the brand told the fashion portal. "We are very happy to announce that we are going to stop using exotic leathers in all our future collections from autumn 2019. This decision reflects the wishes not only of the brand but also of our customers."

And what does exotic skin mean? Most brands, such as Gucci or Michael Kors, had talked about stopping using fur, that is, the hair of animals such as minks or foxes. Beckham has never used that type of leather in his brand, but it was common, and in fact they are still available on his website, accessories such as shoes or bags of snakeskin and these accessories refers to his new commitment.
