It has been proven that Sofía Vergara can do anything and with great success. From her own collection of underwear, as well as various perfumes, to one of furniture and, of course, a leading role in one of the most successful shows on American television. Now the Colombian actress embarks on a new adventure with Walmart. Vergara has just launched Sofia Jeans by Sofía Vergara, a line where jeans are the protagonists, but where you will also find around 100 pieces, including fabulous blouses, shirts and denim jackets and T-shirts, all for less than rar at Walmart.com.

How did the idea of creating a clothing line where jeans are the protagonists come up?

I think [a pair] of jeans is one of the most important garments that every woman should have in her closet. A woman of any age. My mom is 70 years old and her closet is full of jeans. My niece is 26 years old and her favorite garment is jeans. I think it is one of the most versatile things one can have because you can wear them daily or you can wear them at night with a sexier top and heels. So it is good to invest in jeans that look good on you.

Why did you decide to make this collection to sell at Walmart.com?

“I have within reach to reach all brands, but not everyone [can]. I have been educated to see what women like, what they do not like, the beautiful materials, the ones that do not hold up much because I have been able to buy very expensive jeans and [also] cheap jeans. I thought, why not? With good taste, dedication and with a partner like Walmart.com I could create a line that looked like a designer with the same look, with the same results. Jeans that do not wear, that do not remove the elastic and that look cute to women, and also comfortable. Walmart is the champion in prices, in clothes with cheap prices. They helped me a lot to create this line.

What can we find in the collection?

The most important thing for me was to create the line of jeans because I wanted a very special line, very pretty, that I wanted to put them on and in fact, I put them on all the time. I personally when I go to a website I end up buying what the model had on, the top and the bottom because that way one does not have to think how I am going to wear this. Many people are not as creative. So we decided, since we are going to be at Walmart.com and we are going to put the jeans, we are also going to have some tops for people to like if they buy them at once.

Each style of jeans is named after a member of your family… how did you come up with this idea?

It occurred to me because we were thinking from the beginning that they were going to be jeans for real women, not just models or young women, we wanted to [make them] for women of all sizes. And I wanted something nice, something that had to do with me and it occurred to me that I have women of all sizes in my family. There are some voluptuous, some skinny, some small, some big. I thought it was nice to name each one. They all wear jeans. Each one has studied well what they like and they almost always use that style. So I said, 'ah, Gloria María likes that like that' so I made a jeans similar to the ones she wears. My niece Claudia loves [denim] skirts, I made her a denim skirt. So it was all. I took them all to New York and we took some photos each with their jeans and they were happy.

You have a very special connection with Baguette, the rescued dog from your daughter Manolo. Did you also make her jeans?

“When my son Manolo lends her to me, then I take the juice from her and disguise her and everything, but unfortunately she doesn't live with me. But I did make her jeans and take a picture of her.

What is your favorite style in the collection?

The ones that I like the most are the ones called Sofia because it is the style that favors me the most and that I have used for many years. It is a skinny jeans that is not so long nor so short. I also like the jogger because I feel modern wearing something like that (laughs).

What is your best advice for women when choosing a pair of jeans?

One of the things we did was put models of all sizes for women to relate to and say, 'oh look this one has her hips like me or look this one is short-legged like me'. They have a good price that was what I wanted. With good taste you can achieve a line of super-good jeans at cheap prices.

Will we see you wearing your jeans from now on?

"Yes, right now I have them on. I have been putting them on for a year because I have been testing them, that they will last, that they will not break, [to see] that after putting them in the washing machine they would not come out like an old rag.
