The Mexican presenter is in New York to witness the auditions of the next edition of Nuestra Belleza Latina in which there will be models of all sizes and ages. We take advantage of Alejandra Espinoza's visit to ask her in our beauty closet for her best tips and tricks.

How would you describe your evolution of beauty style since you were crowned until now?

First I went from not putting on makeup almost because I didn't know when I learned to put on makeup that I wanted to put on my full palette. I put on a lot of makeup, I also started to put on shades of blue, green, pink, of all colors. That was my Giant Saturday season. Right now I am lowering the makeup a little. [Now] I don't know if it's because I eat dinner very late or with a lot of salt, but I get up very swollen in the eyes and I'm looking to see how I avoid it.

How do you fight it?

I do not know what to do. They told me that I had to lower the salt and not have dinner so late. I have tried masks, but they have not worked for me. The day I find the formula for that I will be very happy, but not yet.

How have you been learning to dress and find your style?

For the red carpets or in Our Latin Beauty, a stylist does help me, but to walk on the street or to work as now in auditions, no. I am not very fond of following fashions […] and I am also very objective with myself, if there is something that does not suit me, I will not wear it. I love such big colored earrings, but they don't suit me.

And for the carpet how do you choose?

I battle a lot because what I like doesn't necessarily look good on television. For example, I like to walk loose, wrapping dresses, but on television that doesn't look good, it seems that you are wearing pajamas. So I try to find a happy medium, something that I like, but that looks good.

You don't like spending a lot on clothes and cosmetics, where do you buy or how do you do it?

I am very smart to buy. I buy classic and basic things. Suddenly I buy some other thing that is a statement. I buy many things, pants, skirts, which I can combine with many things. I have a lot of clothes like that and it is very rare that I repeat a set, I always try to give them a spin so that they don't look the same.

Do you do your makeup? What are you wearing today?

Today I am wearing Stila's highlighter. I always try to put on makeup. When I go to a red carpet, no, but when I'm working like this and I see that I can touch up in the bathroom, I do it myself. What I don't like is that if I have put on makeup I will have my touch-up done.

How do you fix your eyebrows?

My eyebrows have a life of their own. I need to go to a hairdresser for eyebrows, I have them very long! I have to cut them. I have to do it because I have gone to have it done to me and they do it to me badly, I don't like it. I always try to cope on my own. […] I use powders. I have gone through all the phases, I try many things. […] Now I use one from NYX, like a tube, which I really liked.
