After giving birth to her son Matteo about three months ago, Alejandra Espinoza is already in her usual size. The presenter of the La Banda musical contest, which premieres this fall on Univisión, tells us how she managed to look stunning so soon after bringing her first-born into the world.

“When I was pregnant I ate very well. I eat everything. I love vegetables, fruits, meats. In my pregnancy I was eating a lot of fruit. The apples devoured me. I ate more fruit than normal, "he confesses. "At night I woke up and ate a banana at dawn."

Espinoza recommends pregnant women to eat healthy but also to have their cravings. “Everything you eat is what you are feeding your baby. Sometimes you treat yourself to chocolates or some dessert. You have to eat them, of course you do. It is the only moment in a woman's life that you can treat yourself and everything tastes twice as much. The flavors are put to their maximum power and you have to enjoy it too”, she assures.

Her judicious nutrition helped her only gain about 22 pounds during those nine months and today she is at her usual weight. “When I got pregnant I was weighing 128 pounds and today I weigh exactly 128 pounds. I didn't gain much weight,”admits the 28-year-old Mexican, who also credits her good genetics.

"It is the first time that I can enjoy it this way and if I had gained weight I would not have had any problem," she adds about being pregnant. “I had La Banda. I knew that Matteo was born and that two months later he had recordings of the program but he was not very stressed either.

The presenter ensures that you also have to hydrate and stay active. "You have to drink a lot of water. The body asks you, but the doctor always told me: 'Take twice what the body asks of you'. It is recommended for all pregnant women to walk at least 30 minutes a day during the nine months as long as your pregnancy is not high risk."

Another tip is to keep your self-esteem high by bringing out women's flirtation. "I loved being groomed all the time. I loved feeling pretty. She bought me clothes because I liked to look good,”she says. And she never lost her fashionista side. "I always liked dressing as I dress today but adapting it to pregnancy. Being pregnant is not a matter of fashion, it is a matter of comfort too,”she says.

Many people said to me: 'Alejandra, I want to see you with maternity gowns.' Maternity gowns weren't my thing. My thing was jeans with loose blouses, a leather jacket and booties. My tummy showed, but that was my style. I think it is adapting the pregnancy to your style and not that the pregnancy makes you look different or that you feel different”.
