Actress Penelope Cruz is the new Chanel ambassador and face of the 2018 Cruise campaign as announced today by the brand. This makes her the first Spaniard to wear this title.
Cruz has confirmed the news by posting a photo on his Instagram account in which he appears with the designer and in which he wears a set of the brand's tweed with the hashtag "genius" referring to Lagerfeld who was the photographer for the new campaign.
The Oscar winner first attended a Chanel show in 1999 and has since worn the brand's outfits for several important occasions such as the Oscars, Goya and Cannes Film Festival. In 2009, she also wore a spectacular black dress, adorned with golden Chanel chains for Pedro Almodóvar's movie “Los abrazos rotos”.
Today she was once again among those attending the brand's Fall / Winter Haute Couture show, but this time with the special title of ambassador of the French maison, thus joining the famous faces of past campaigns made up of Kristen Stewart, Margot Robbie and Keira Knightly.
“It is an iconic brand and Karl is a genius. I have been following and admiring everything he does since I was a child, so it is a great pleasure to work with him, the actress told WWD. “He is the king of fashion and the photo shoot was really very interesting; being in front of his camera is an adventure”.
