Urban Zen is the name of designer Donna Karan's philanthropic foundation and one of her fashion and lifestyle brands. Unlike its eponymous brand, DKNY, the Urban Zen concept is one that highlights the spiritual side as it focuses on the well-being of the mind, body and spirit. Many of its textiles are recycled and is described on its website as follows: “Urban Zen is classic and without seasons, designed so that clothes can be worn from day to night, from one climate to the other, and for traveling around the world in a simple, sensual and unique way”.

For the presentation of her fall 2017 collection entitled 'The Orient Express' during New York Fashion Week, the designer chose to organize the event in the showroom of the center of the same name that reflects the organic and natural style of the brand, with decorations in warm metallic tones and wooden furniture.

The new Urban Zen collection is designed for a natural and earthy woman and consists of soft textures such as suede and velvet. The hairstyle, done by Michael Johnson for the Matrix, was a messy bun but with a sophisticated touch. "I am taking all the hair back and leaving two sections to the sides to create a line in the middle," explains the stylist, who used the Matrix products from the Biolage RAW line to highlight the models' natural hair texture. “I grab each section, after having made a high tail, and I wrap them around the league. From there I make the bun”.

The makeup, done by Bank Natdanai for Jolii Cosmetics, was inspired by the fashion of the tribes and especially those of Haiti. The expert outlined her eyes with a black eyeliner pencil to achieve a smokey eye, and put glitter on the eyelids and inside corners of the eyes to give them an intense pop. The models' skin looked natural with light luminosity thanks to concealers and highlighters. "All eyes are smokey eyes, because Donna asked for it, as they represent a beautiful woman who is strong and empowered," Natdanai said of the look. "For the lips we mix four shades of matte lipsticks so that each woman has a different color."
