It is true that things are not as they are painted. Those who remember Naya Rivera during her years in the hit series Glee could think of a young girl, beautiful and enjoying the honeys of fame. However, in her new book, Sorry Not Sorry, the actress confesses in those years she had very difficult moments, among them, that of undergoing an abortion.

"I've lived a long time," Rivera told People when talking about the book, which goes on sale on September 13. "I'm like a 79-year-old woman trapped in the body of a 29-year-old."

In the tome, the Puerto Rican-born star details that he began his career in Hollywood before entering kindergarten. Then, she explains that since adolescence she has struggled against anorexia.

“By the time I was in high school, I started to feel that what had started as a game maybe had already gone too far. I just started avoiding food at all costs,”he explains in the book. The separation and subsequent reunion of her parents profoundly impacted her career and life. "If my mom packed me a lunch, I either threw it away, or found an excuse to give it away."

But perhaps the most devastating confession was that while playing the role of Santana López in the series Glee (2009), she ended a pregnancy, and that now she wants to speak publicly about it so that other women feel that they are not alone.

Rivera became pregnant in 2010 with actor Ryan Dorsey, just after breaking up with him and in full success with Glee. Rivera explains that she did not reveal the pregnancy to the actor she married in 2014 and who is the father of her son, 11-month-old Josie Hollis.

"It was terrifying to open up about all this," the actress now says, about the process of bringing out so many things in her book. "It's not something that a lot of people talk about, but I think they should. I know a lot of people are going to read it and say 'what the hell?' But I hope at least someone out there gets something out of it."
