Before Father's Day, Juanes wrote an emotional letter to his children Luna, Paloma and Dante in which he expresses that his little children have “taught him what pure and true love is”.

The letter from the interpreter of "The Black Shirt" is part of the series "Letters from Dad", an initiative of the Time.com portal where famous parents such as Ricky Martin and Russell Simmons send letters to their children on the occasion of Father's Day.

When they were in their mother's belly, I spent whole nights trying to imagine them, to see their face, their eyes, their mouth, what their hands would be like, their toes, but only until they arrived could I really understand what they would be like U. I still remember that day that I was in the delivery room waiting for each one of you with your mother, and the Dr. called me and said 'come, it's going to be born', just at that precise moment I felt a mixture of joy and nerves that took hold of me and that I couldn't describe in words alone. In the blink of an eye, like when a candle is lit in the dark, each one appeared illuminating the whole place, our lives were forever filled with brilliance as when the sun rises in the morning drawing the horizon. I took them in my arms and sat on the sofa near the bed where her mother was, my tears that I could not contain from so much joy fell on my smiling face, in shock, she ran through them and thanked God while her grandmother to the side smiled and blessed them. That room where we were became a party, a celebration of life, our paths crossed and changed forever.

At first I imagined that my mission would be to teach them everything I knew about life; the physical, the intellectual, the spiritual. But in time I realized that being a father was not only about that, but also that it would be you who would teach me; just as you hear it, I would also be your student; we would be teachers of each other. The purity of their souls and innocence reminded me that I too came to this world one day like you. It was like reconnecting with my father and mother, uniting that mysterious and magical bond of existence. One of the things I appreciate most is that they have taught me what true and pure love is, that love that is only born with children. I became their guide and host at the same time, my priority was to love them and teach them to love themselves,and at the same time show them the tools to live in this world.

I want to thank you for making my days happier, for having brought meaning and reason to my existence, for giving me strength every morning to get up, for being my muse of inspiration and source of energy. Maybe when they read these words and find all the sense, they will be in the university or they will be mother or father, then they will know that everything I tell them I do with love and it comes from the heart and they will be able to understand the love of father. This world we live in needs more love, more awareness, so become an example to others, give love and you will receive love, before judging someone first put yourself in their place and so they can make this place a better home, that fear only serves to be alert, not paralyzed, never stop being yourself, to believe in yourself, no matter what others say.
