On the occasion of Father's Day, singer Ricky Martin wrote an emotional letter to his 6-year-old twins, Valentino and Matteo.
“From the first moment I held them in my arms, I have told them how incredibly grateful, honored, and blessed I am to be their father. But I don't think I've ever told them how they changed my life,”wrote the Puerto Rican in the letter he shared with his followers in a section of the Time.com portal.
“For years, the only thing that was always clear in my heart was my longing to become a father. I dreamed about it frequently and I found great strength and inspiration in the possibility [of becoming a father],”he added.
Martin fulfilled his life's dream by becoming the father of his twins - who were born in August 2010 via gestational surrogacy.
“When this dream came true, you cannot imagine how I was filled with joy and emotion. I was anxiously awaiting her arrival, counting the days, hours [and] minutes. I must have read all the books on parenting. So finally, the first time I held them in my arms, the world stopped,”he said.
To close, Ricky made it clear to his children that they will always count on his unconditional support.
"Above all, my beautiful children, your love has given me the strength to live an honest life, a life of courage and transparency that fills me with pride and peace," he said. "No matter what they decide to be or do, I will always be by their side, never forget it."
