Simon Cowell is finally going to be a dad!
The 53-year-old The X Factor judge is expecting her first child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, 36, sources confirm to People. This news has caused a stir, as Silverman is married to real estate magnate Andrew Silverman, who is very close to Cowell.
The Silvermans are apparently divorcing.
"This is a very sensitive topic and all media questions are being directed to [Cowell's] lawyer in the United States," an assistant to Cowell's representative in England told People. Other calls to representatives were not answered.
But what does Cowell think about the idea of having children? Well, it depends on when you have been asked …
"By God, no. I could not have children. If I had them here, drawing on the walls, I would go crazy,”he said in 2009, during an interview he offered at his Beverly Hills mansion. “You have to get up at a specific time. You have to listen, when all you want to do is sit in a corner and think."
However, in an interview with AOL Music in March 2012, Cowell seemed calmer with the idea of being a dad. "I really like children very, very much, because I can talk to them and listen to them," he said. “The problem has always been the amount of time you need to dedicate to parenting, and I have always dedicated my entire life to work. At 52 years old, the opportunity has probably passed me by.”
Before meeting Silverman, Cowell was a boyfriend of English television presenter Terri Seymour. He was then engaged to Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, but the couple broke their engagement after 18 months, in September 2011.
Cowell also dated Carmen Electra briefly, from December 2012 to February this year. "Now I'm single," he told People after his breakup with Electra. "We spend time together; she is very funny".
