While in fiction he makes himself hate in the skin of the evil Emir, in real life Kaan Urgancıoğlu has luckily nothing to do with the Machiavellian character he plays every night in the hit soap opera Amor eterno (Univision). This is corroborated by the recent visit that the Turkish actor made to our country in which the 38-year-old interpreter was most friendly and accessible to his Hispanic fans and the press. People en Español had the opportunity to talk to Kaan and this is what he shared with us regarding his participation in Amor eterno and his career.

Welcome to our country! How has the Hispanic public received you?

It was impressive, I did not expect that reception. I am very grateful.

How does it feel to see that your work has been dubbed into so many languages?

Some actors [who have dubbed me] contacted me and it was amazing how to share the same character with other people in different languages but with many things in common. And seeing me in other languages was also very different.

Was it difficult for you as an actor to understand Emir's evil?

It was actually more fun than difficult at first, but after a few episodes bringing that intention to the end made me very tired. But I do not see Emir as a villain, there was something else that made me connect with the character, so I began to respect the character in the sense that he knows what he wants and strives to achieve it without caring about anything.

The soap opera has been recorded for years, are you still keeping in touch with a colleague?

Really yes, I see them once in a while, but we are all very busy most of the time. Life goes on then [everyone] has their new characters and they do a pretty good job.

Have you always dreamed of being an actor?

Not really. I studied economics and it was by chance that I became an actor. When I finished university I had to decide whether to take the path of acting or not and I finally decided to take that direction.

Would you like to work in the United States?

I would love to work in the United States. We learned from film and television by watching their work.

Finally, what message would you give to the almost two million people who see Eternal Love every night and have placed it as the public's favorite?

I can tell the audience something, but not the end of the novel (laughs). It is impressive that a show unites us all. Thanks for everything and I hope to see you soon with other projects.
