Angie Martinez brings to life 20 years of hip-hop in her new book My Voice: A Memoir. The iconic New York City radio personality wrote about her growing love for hip-hop, watching the rise of legends and finding her own voice. Readers even get a peek at never-before-seen photos in her new book.
One of the most memorable parts of the tell-all includes a controversial interview with Tupac Shakur, who spoke with Martinez about the East Coast-West Coast rivalry months before his death.
“I wanted to document a time in the culture that I was fortunate enough to come up in,” said Martinez to Chica. "There were a lot of things, especially in hip-hop, that were happening when I was starting and getting my career going."
With the audiobook version on its way, the radio host and DJ who is known as the “Voice of New York” sat down with Chica to talk about getting personal in her memoir, connecting with her Puerto Rican culture and what's next in her career.
